My journey with Onpartu started...
My journey with Onpartu started three years ago, when Paulina shared her idea of creating a programme to enable foreign-born women in London to have a career aligned to their interests and experience. I had first-hand experience of how transformational a bridging programme can be since Paulina and I had just gone through one together, which enabled a change in our lives. My instant response was ‘yes, I am in, let’s do this’.
Getting involved meant...
Getting involved meant reflecting on my own journey as a foreign-born woman in London, and drawing on my struggles and successes. At each step, there was always one person and one piece of advice that made a huge difference on where I stand today. Getting involved meant being able to pay that advice and support forward.
My Onpartu role is...
I act as Programme Development Lead, tapping into my business learning experience from my career so far. I focus on ensuring our training results in a positive impact on the Onpartner’s lives.
In my day job, I am responsible for ...
I work at Interface, the global lead of modular flooring and the most sustainable company in the world. I work on finding innovations to ensure our carpets do not end up in landfill. I am very proud that Onpartu and Interface are my vehicles to channel my environmental and social vision.
Volunteering with Onpartu provides...
Volunteering with Onpartu provides an opportunity to get to know and work with amazing people, and experience the tangible results of the work and hours we put in. It is very inspiring to witness people’s lives improving.
My biggest learning so far...
My biggest learning so far has been experiencing what it means to start something new. It takes a lot of faith, risk taking, and accepting the uncertainty of stepping into the unknown. It has developed the ability to trust that the dots will connect at some point down the road!
My most memorable Onpartu moment...
My most memorable Onpartu moment is the moment I saw the updated LinkedIn profile of one of the participants. Her profile picture was one of a professional and confident woman, working again in the career she left back home. Seeing evidence of that change represents all that we stand for.
Talent is...
Talent is a human trait, we all have it. We are born with it. If you are human, it comes as part of the package. Sometimes it just takes a little bit of help from others to bring it out.
